Services

Herbal Medicine

Herbal medicines are sourced from medicinal plants and are prescribed in the form of liquid extracts, teas, powders or tablets. Herbal medicine is the oldest form of medicine and has been practiced by many cultures throughout the world for thousands of years. It is still the most widely used form of medicine today.

HerbMed1

Many modern medicines are isolated constituents sourced from herbs. For example, aspirin is derived from white willow bark. In herbal medicine the whole plant is used which displays a milder effect and enhances the synergy and safety of the plant. Knowledge of herbs is based on thousands of years of wisdom and practice and the latest scientific research and validation.

Nutritional Medicine

Nutritional medicine is the use of supplements or dietary modifications to correct deficiencies or treat disease states. Nutritional supplements may be prescribed in the form of tablets, capsules or powders. They are prescribed in therapeutic dosages, in synergistic combinations and in the most the effective form.

A balanced diet and lifestyle are the main foundations of naturopathic medicine. Herbal and nutritional medicines are very effective, but to obtain long lasting results, a focus on diet and lifestyle is essential. Food Therapy, as the name suggests, is the use of food to achieve therapeutic results. Certain diets or food groups may be emphasised. Information is provided on where to purchase foods and how to prepare healthy meals. Lifestyle modifications are be many and varied, and may include advice on general lifestyle, exercise and relaxation practices.

Botanical Skin Care

Botanical skin care is formulated from pure plant ingredients and contains no artificial chemicals or additives. Ingredients may include cold pressed plant oils and butters, essential oils, botanical extracts and skin nutrients. These are of particular benefit for people with skin conditions such as eczema, acne and psoriasis, those with sensitive skin and those who are conscious of the external use of chemicals.

Flower Essences

Flower essences are infusions of flowers or plants in pure water. They are similar to homeopathy in that they are diluted and potentised forms of medicines. These vibrational essences demonstrate subtle and gentle effects and can be used for physical, emotional, mental or spiritual imbalances or blockages and to shift certain behaviours. Due to their wide range of actions they can be used on adults, children and pets alike.

Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy is the use of concentrated aromatic or essential oils for therapeutic purposes. These essential oils are extracted from the flowers, leaves, berries, barks or roots of plants. Aromatherapy is a fast acting form of treatment. It can be used atmospherically, in massage, in skin care, as a body oil, in a bath or as an inhalation. Essential oils will be chosen to best suit you and will be prescribed alone or in a synergistic blend. Not only is aromatherapy a gentle and effective treatment for adults and children alike, but it also smells great!

Iridology

Iridology is the study of the eye including the iris and pupil. It works along the principle that the nerve endings of the eye are linked to every organ and tissue in the body. Iridology looks at the fibres, colours and markings of the eye. These are related to the iris map to determine your constitution, genetic strengths and weaknesses or past injury. The eye is examined using a magnifying glass and torch. The iris is like a fingerprint, each person’s is unique. This naturopathic diagnostic tool will help to determine the best treatment options for you.

Consultation

What to expect from a Consultation

The initial visit is a one hour consultation where a thorough case history is taken. This includes an exploration of current and past health conditions, as well as diet, lifestyle, stress and environmental factors.

A physical examination is conducted using naturopathic analysis such as iridology, tongue and nail analysis. You may also be referred for clinical or laboratory tests.

A treatment plan is designed using dietary recommendations and lifestyle modifications (exercise, sleep and relaxation practices). Herbal and nutritional supplements may also be prescribed. You are encouraged to be an active participant in the process and information will be given for you to manage and better understand your health condition.
