What is Shiatsu?
Shiatsu is a traditional Japanese style of hands-on treatment. It aims to bring you into optimal health and balance by releasing tension, stress, fatigue and pain from your body while providing nurturing on a deep level.

What to expect
In order to establish the treatment plan that will best suit your specific needs the session begins with a brief discussion about your symptoms along with a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) diagnosis using the tongue and pulse.
A traditional Shiatsu is performed with the patient lying fully clothed on a futon on the floor. By applying pressure and using a combination of palms, elbows and sometimes my feet, I work along your body’s meridians (energy channels) moving stuck or stagnant chi (energy) and thereby promoting vitality and wellbeing. I may also use cupping or guasha (spooning) techniques.

More about Shiatsu
Emotional states, life style and diet may also be discussed, as Shiatsu acknowledges the whole being.
Shiatsu is also an ideal support and compliment to western medical treatments such as depression, anxiety, injury management, commencing or stopping medication, to name but a few.
Pregnancy, both prenatal and postnatal, holds a special interest for me as it responds particularly well to Shiatsu.
It’s not necessary to be experiencing ill-health or muscular/skeletal issues in order to benefit from Shiatsu. Shiatsu is both deeply relaxing and enlivening and can become an anticipated part of your maintenance and wellbeing routine while acting as a safeguard to developing imbalances.

What to wear
It’s best to wear loose comfortable clothing when receiving Shiatsu.
Treatment Plans & Your Loyalty Card
Quite often symptoms will be resolved after one session. However given that most symptoms may have been around for some time it is realistic to expect it will take 3 or 4 regular treatments before symptoms disappear.
As an incentive to helping you commit to improving your wellbeing I’m offering a Loyalty System. This means that your 4th treatment will cost you only half the usual rate.
Once health and wellbeing have been restored you might like to consider switching to a maintenance plan – receiving a Shiatsu every 3,4,5 weeks or so and still benefiting fromyour Loyalty Card every 4th treatment.
