Practitioners: Vanessa Briggs

Natropath, Herbalist and Massage Therapist

Vanessa Briggs is a qualified Naturopath, Herbalist and Massage Therapist, and has been involved in Naturopathy for over 10 years. Her experience has evolved through working, living and studying with a Master herbalist in WA, in which time she learnt the art of growing, harvesting and manufacturing herbal medicines traditionally.  Vanessa’s philosophy is that through traditional herbal medicines and diet and nutrition, you can assist the body to heal. Her main focus is to bring the body back to balance naturally, through her belief and love for herbal medicine.

The initial consultation consists of the diagnostic method of Iridology, where a photo of your eye is taken to determine the health of the body. A detailed health review is also conducted to determine the body’s weaknesses and to gain a clear picture of the client’s needs.   An individual diet plan as well as your individual herbal formula is then prescribed. To compliment the treatment Deep Tissue Massage/Bodywork is also recommended to help the healing process.

Vanessa has an Advanced Diploma in Naturopathy and Herbal Medicine. She is also a member of the Australian Traditional Medicine Society (ATMS).

Overview of Modalities used.

NATUROPATHY

Naturopathy is a form of healing that uses the natural healing powers of the body and nature to help overcome disharmony in the body and bring it back to a state of good health and equilibrium, using a variety of techniques.
The main emphasis of naturopathy is to strengthen the body’s own natural healing response and promote healing, and to empower people to make the best lifestyle choices for the best possible health.
Naturopathy can help with:

  • Immune disorders

  • Skin conditions

  • Digestive Disorders

  • Stress related conditions

  • Hormonal Dysfunction

  • Respiratory disorders

IRIDOLOGY

Iridology is the study and analysis of various marks, signs and discoloration of the iris to reveal the health of the body.  The iris reveals body constitution, inherent weakness and strength, states of inflammation in the body and the changing conditions of every part of the organ within the body
The iris or coloured part of the eye is connected through thousands of nerve ending to every organ.  Disharmony in these areas is reflected back into the fibres of the iris. Through this we are able to identify areas within the body that are in need of attention and healing.

HERBAL MEDICINE

Herbal Medicine, also called Phyto-medicine, is medicine made from plants, using the plant’s seeds, berries, roots, bark or flowers for medicinal purpose.  Herbs contain a large number of naturally occurring chemicals derived from various plant parts. This complex chemistry provides great therapeutic benefits when used to treat disorders within the body, and helps to maintain overall good health.

Herbal medicine has been used for thousands of years and is the oldest and most widely used system of medicine. Writings from Ancient Egypt have described the use of herbal medicine to cure illness.

DIET & NUTRITION

The foods we eat greatly contribute to our health and well-being. Wrong foods often produce illness and disease, resulting in conditions such as cardiovascular disease, obesity, anemia and high cholesterol.

Good nutrition reduces the risk of disease and helps to maintain optimum health. A balanced diet high in nutrition is fundamental to maintaining good health and correcting illness in the body.

REMEDIAL THERAPIES.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep Tissue Massage is a form of remedial massage that works deeply on the muscles to help loosen muscle tissues, relieve stress, release toxins and get blood and oxygen circulating. It is both corrective and therapeutic. It is beneficial for many physical problems, including sports injuries and chronic pain. Because it works very deeply, emotional issues can also be addressed, when these have been stored in the body. It helps to realign deeper layers of muscle to aid in the healing process and promote relaxation and well-being.

Lymph Drainage Massage

Lymphatic Massage is a massage technique that is designed to stimulate the lymph’s circulation in order to speed up the removal of waste from the body. Stimulating the lymphatic system encourages fluid circulation, cell regeneration, promotes detoxification and helps support the immune system.

Ear Candling

Ear candling has been used for centuries.  It works to help release pressure build up in the ears from excess wax and toxins and may help with conditions related to sinus problems, tinnitus, vertigo and ear aches. A lymphatic massage around the neck is also done to help stimulate lymphatic drainage points to drain toxins away from the ear cavity and sinus canals.  Ear Candling may help to improve hearing, clear blocked ear, and restore equilibrium and balance.
