Modalities: Groups

In 2006 The Hartington Centre will be offering a new group program Responsive People. The focus of the groups is conflict resolution & communication skills and will be run as separate groups for women, men and couples (details below). The groups would be suitable for individuals and/or couples who feel that there is too much unproductive conflict in their lives or for those who avoid conflict and disagreement at some personal cost. We understand responsive people as those who are making more active choices in their day to day living and are therefore better able to get their own needs met and meet the needs of those with whom they are in relationship.

'Responsive Women' and 'Responsive Men' are about developing awareness and understanding our own unique process to help us take responsibility for that which is ours (needs/feelings/assumptions/behaviour) and knowing how to respectfully meet others.

'Responsive Couples' will look at relationship dynamics that lead to stressful and unproductive lives. Working with communication skills and assertiveness we will bring our focus to bringing goodwill and peace back into your relationships.

Responsive People will be facilitated by Julie Twohig, Jo Marston and Tony Jackson. They are all experienced relationship counsellors. Jo and Tony have also been facilitating Men's Behavioural Change programs for many years. Please note: Responsive Men is not a family violence program, but would be an excellent forum for work begun in a Behavioural Change Program to be developed
