Modalities: Pilates
What is Pilates?
Pilates was first developed by the late Joseph Pilates as a way to improve deep muscle tone, flexibility, balance, circulation and posture. Pilates has a focus on internal muscle groups, and therefore tones the body rather than building bulk. With an emphasis upon deep core strength, pelvic stability, spinal strength and musculoskeletal imbalances, pilates proves to have remarkable results on improving functional posture. It is a system of exercise promoting the lengthening of muscles while you strengthen and thus improves flexibility and increases range of movement in stiff bodies. It is a gentle but effective form of intelligent exercise that is mentally challenging as well as physically demanding.
At Hartington Centre Simone Ivkovic offers a detailed and effective method of personalising your Pilates practice. Through 1:1 and 2:1 sessions you are exposed to a personalised program that is designed for your individual body and aimed at working on your particular areas of need.
1:1 Pilates sessions provide a tailored program to focus on the detailed needs of the client. Pilates in large groups can often skim over the integral technicalities of isolating muscle groups which ensure a safe and beneficial execution of an exercise. These 1:1 sessions allow the client to receive the full benefit of the Pilates method.
Promoting spinal mobility, joint strength, flexibility and attention to the needs of the individuals body.
2:1 sessions invite you and a friend to do your Pilates together. Individual programs will be designed for each client separately and the structure will be similar to a 1:1 but shared between two. A wonderful experience to share with someone and a good way to keep each other on your toes!
Stretch Therapy is offered as 1:1 or 2:1. Stretching in a vital component to a balanced and functional body. Tightness or shortness throughout the musculoskeletal system can lead to referred injuries, pain, discomfort or dysfunctional movement. The Stretch Therapy sessions offer specialised techniques to safely stretch problem areas in an individuals body. Focus will also be places on the reasoning behind the tightness with a direction of prevention.
